PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Dear Parents/Guardians of State Street Elementary:

My name is Carolina Chavez.  It is with great honor and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed Principal of State Street Elementary. I grew up in Lennox, Ca. and am the youngest daughter in a Mexican Family with six siblings.  I am the proud aunt of ten nieces and nephews and the mother of one 14-year-old young man.  My parents and upbringing have inspired my work ethic to include community values and high expectations.

Over the course of my professional journey, I have worked as a teacher, Targeted Student Populations Coordinator, Intervention Coordinator, and most recently Assistant Principal.  I bring with me a depth of knowledge in professional development, content knowledge, and community building.

            I have been dedicated to the educational field over 18 years and have worked in a variety of areas across Los Angeles.  I attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and earned a bachelor’s degree in Chicano Studies, I went on to obtain a master’s degree and teaching credential from the University of Southern California (USC) and then a second master’s degree and administrative credential from California State University, Northridge (CSUN).

I am eager to get to know the school community at State Street Elementary.  I wholeheartedly believe that all students can achieve at high levels, and it is my goal to ensure that our students are provided with opportunities that will allow them to reach their full potential.  As a leader, I have had the opportunity to create positive school cultures, develop partnerships with community resources and build capacity within our school community.  

I look forward to working together to provide an above average learning experience for our students.  I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve you, your children, and this amazing school community.

Estimados padres/tutores de la escuela primaria State Street:

                Mi nombre es Carolina Chávez. Es con gran honor y entusiasmo que escribo esta carta de presentación como directora recién nombrada de la escuela primaria State Street. Crecí en Lennox, Ca. y soy la hija menor de una familia mexicana con seis hermanos. Soy la orgullosa tía de diez sobrinos y sobrinas y la madre de un joven de 14 años. Mis padres y mi educación han inspirado mi ética de trabajo para incluir valores comunitarios y altas expectativas.

                A lo largo de mi trayectoria profesional, he trabajado como maestra, coordinadora de poblaciones estudiantiles específicas, coordinadora de intervención y, más recientemente, subdirectora. Traigo conmigo un profundo conocimiento en desarrollo profesional, conocimiento de contenidos y construcción de comunidades.

                Me he dedicado al campo educativo durante 18 años y he trabajado en una variedad de áreas en Los Ángeles. Asistí a la Universidad de California, Los Ángeles (UCLA), y obtuve una licenciatura en Estudios Chicanos, luego obtuve una maestría y una credencial de enseñanza de la Universidad del Sur de California (USC) y luego una segunda maestría y una credencial administrativa de la Universidad Estatal de California, Northridge (CSUN).

               Estoy ansiosa por conocer la comunidad escolar de State Street Elementary. Creo sinceramente que todos los estudiantes pueden alcanzar altos niveles y mi objetivo es garantizar que nuestros estudiantes reciban oportunidades que les permitan alcanzar su máximo potencial.  Como líder, he tenido la oportunidad de crear culturas escolares positivas, desarrollar asociaciones con recursos comunitarios y desarrollar capacidades dentro de nuestra comunidad escolar.

                Espero trabajar juntos para brindar una experiencia de aprendizaje superior al promedio para nuestros estudiantes. Me gustaría agradecerles por la oportunidad de servirles a ustedes, a sus hijos y a esta increíble comunidad escolar.
